Write for us
We welcome pitches that make one element of storytelling easier to notice, discuss or work with. Send your proposal through the Contact page; please do not submit a complete article unless we have agreed to see one.
What we welcome
Pitch clear, original pieces about character, scenes, structure, voice or revision. We are interested in useful explanations, thoughtful comparisons, craft histories and exercises that give readers a particular way to look at a story or develop a draft.
A strong pitch
Tell us the working title, the main idea, who the piece is for and what the reader will take away. Name the angle that makes it distinct, and mention any works or sources you expect to discuss. Keep the proposal focused on one central craft question.
Before sending
Pitches should be your own work and should not make unsupported claims or promise a universal writing formula. Disclose relevant commercial or personal interests. We cannot promise publication or a particular response time; proposals are sent through the Contact page.
Every story is a set of choices
We look at the craft beneath the page, from the pressure inside a scene to the sound of a sentence. Understanding those choices can deepen both reading and writing.
